We are proud to announce the successful completion of a significant project for GF Strong Rehabilitation Center showcasing the resilience and dedication of our Companion Construction team. In November 2021, British Columbia faced devastating flooding and extreme weather events that washed away highways, submerged the Sumas Prairie, and impacted numerous buildings, including several healthcare facilities. A subsequent severe cold snap in Metro Vancouver caused further damage including a frozen fire suppression system, which in turn burst and flooded a large section of this building displacing staff, patients and important childcare services.

Major disaster response requires extra resilience, compassion and dedication from the entire project team, and this project also saw some significant upgrades to key systems, such as electrical panels and water lines, requiring careful negotiation and balancing of insurance policies. By keeping communication clear and maintaining strong working relationships, we overcame potential delays and delivered quality improvements.

This project serves as a reminder of the lessons we’ve learned from responding to community crises, such as pandemics and extreme weather events, showing that we can come back stronger and more connected with our communities. We are grateful to Vancouver Coastal Health, our consultants, and trade partners for their unwavering support. With the guidance of our dedicated Project Manager Aron Koehn, we rose above the challenges, and in the process, strengthened our resolve to deliver exceptional results, no matter the circumstances.

This experience is a testament to our belief that relationships are the foundation of every successful project. We look forward to more opportunities to make a positive impact on the communities we serve!
